Mental Health Awareness Month: Anxiety

Memorial Heights Counseling Houston | Individual Counseling for Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD

Have you heard? May is MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH and I’m looking forward to spreading the word about mental health & wellness. Each Friday throughout the month of May I’ll be posting on the Memorial Heights Counseling social media accounts and here on my blog with information about common mental health concerns, symptoms to be aware of, and how to promote a greater sense of well being. Check back here each Friday for more!

Today, as part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re focusing on ANXIETY. Anxiety is one of the most common mental health concerns and is something we will all grapple with from time to time. Anxiety is so much more than being a worrier, and if we don’t know what to look for we may dismiss our experiences of anxiety or misdiagnose what’s going on. We experience anxiety not just in our minds but also in our bodies and relationships.

Anxiety can get in the way of us living the life we want for ourselves and sometimes be self-perpetuating if we aren’t careful. For instance, we may procrastinate on a task because we’re worried we won’t do it well enough...only to then not have enough time to actually do it well enough. If you regularly experience any of these symptoms, considering talking to a mental health practitioner or scheduling an appointment so you can better manage your anxiety and get back to living the life you want.

See you next week for more Mental Health Awareness!
